Coaches Need Coaching Too!

I had a very insightful coaching session with my own Coach today.

By the way, coaches need coaching too! We are all on a journey towards growth, and investing in personal or professional coaching is a smart move.

My Coach is a 72-year old, wise woman. She is also a faculty member at the Coaches Training Institute, where I’m in the process of becoming certified as a CPCC.

She serves both as a Mentor and a Coach. I chose her because I wanted to see a bit far down the road of coaching as a career, decades from where I am now.

Coaching is a powerful way to feel supported so that one can keep designing and refining your vision, values and life direction. It helps one not lose sight of what truly matters, and to find the courage to radically stand by one’s convictions, especially in times where we get bombarded by opinions, noise, temptations to be who we are not.

In coaching, you get to have a “clean conversation” with someone (but in actual fact, you get to have a conversation with yourself!).
It’s a craft that allows you to listen to your fears, see your dreams and visions in full color, affirm your God-given gifts and talents, and to also notice what gets in the way – the junk that sometimes blocks one’s insights. Coaching helps you set aligned goals that will help you live life purposefully and joyfully.

So back to my session today with my coach….

Starting off, I had an idea of what I wanted to talk about in the session but by the end of the hour, I moved had moved from my immediate topic.
I was able to put a handle on some deeper, ambiguous emotions and processes. The clarity that came helped me tremendously. I felt more heard and understood by ME. I listened to me, without rationalizing and cutting myself off. It felt so good to follow a thought without being self-judgmental or paranoid. The process of exploring the messages contained in my hard-to-access emotions was nourishing to my emotional well-being.
I gave myself permission to “name” certain things and they became “settled.”

After looking at a few perspectives with my Coach and holding the whole vision of my life, I have been guided to a place of deeper commitment and resonance.

It’s amazing how a 1-hour conversation can facilitate clarity in what I had been feeling for a while but unable to label it, let alone process it.

The lesson I was reminded of today is this: Coaching is not about fixing broken people, it’s a craft that reminds you of your brilliance and light, especially when you cannot see all of it.

You are here to fulfill your purpose and God appointed-mission. It may be big or small, none of that matters. What matters is that you are consistently living your life purposefully, not being at the mercy of circumstances.

Do you have a life/career/spiritual/Success coach on your side?
